1000-Year Farming
SHO farm is a chemical and pesticide-free farm located in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Located one hour from central Tokyo, SHO farm produces about 100 varieties of vegetables and fruits in a rich natural environment.
1. Organic fertilizers
We use green manure and local organic materials such as fallen leaves, pruned branches, rice bran, and okara (soy pulp) to apply as little fertilizer as possible. Chemical fertilizers are not used.
We grow healthy vegetables not by relying on fertilizers, but by harnessing the natural strength of the plants themselves.
2. Pesticide-free
No synthetic chemical pesticides are used.
3. Seed saving
To preserve varieties suited to our land for future generations, we use heirloom and open-pollinated seeds as much as possible and continue saving seeds.
4. Freshness
Freshness accounts for 80% of a vegetable’s deliciousness.
We harvest on the day of sale or the day before, delivering vegetables fresher than supermarkets.
